Why I Started This
I didn't set out to start a fiber company. Honestly, if you'd told me in 1995 that I'd one day be talking publicly about digestive health, I probably would've laughed.
But here's the thing: I raised three kids in Berkeley while working full-time, and despite my best intentions, we didn't always eat perfectly. Some nights were takeout. Some mornings were cereal bars in the car. And slowly, I noticed—my digestion wasn't what it used to be.
I tried the typical drugstore options. The orange powders that tasted like sandy guilt. The capsules you had to take by the handful. The gummies that were basically candy with a side of fiber. Nothing felt right. Everything felt like a compromise.
Then a friend—a nutritionist who'd been researching functional fibers—told me about soluble corn fiber. One ingredient. Nothing added. Just purified fiber from corn that actually dissolved without turning my coffee into sludge.
I ordered a bag. I tried it. And thirty years later, I'm still using it.
It's not flashy. It doesn't promise to transform your life or cure anything. It just does the quiet, essential work that fiber is supposed to do—help your body process food the way it was designed to, back before everything we ate came in a pouch or a box.
When my kids got older and started living on their own, I'd send them home with a jar. When friends complained about digestion issues, I'd share mine. Eventually, people started asking where they could buy it themselves.
So I started Krista's Pantry—not because the world needed another wellness brand, but because sometimes the simplest solutions are the hardest to find. And if this one jar can make your mornings a little easier, your digestion a little gentler, and your life a little less complicated, then I'll consider that time well spent.
What Makes This Fiber Different
Most fiber supplements are either insoluble (psyllium husk, wheat bran) or contain multiple ingredients you don't necessarily need. Our soluble corn fiber is highly purified and has been studied for over 30 years and is used in functional foods around the world.
Here's what that means for you:
- Soluble, not insoluble
Dissolves completely in liquid without thickening or gelling. No texture issues, no chalky mouthfeel. - Gentle and gradual
Works with your body's natural rhythm. Not a laxative, not a stimulant—just fiber doing what fiber does. - Clinically studied
Backed by human research showing it supports healthy digestion, helps maintain regularity, and promotes beneficial gut bacteria. - Low FODMAP certified
Safe for sensitive stomachs and people following elimination diets. - Minimal blood sugar impact
Won't spike your glucose levels the way some fibers can.
Somehow, this isn't magic. It's just one very good ingredient, isolated and purified to do exactly what you need it to do, without all the extras.
How I Use It Every Morning
Most days, I’m up before the house wakes, puttering around the kitchen the way I always have. I scoop a little into whatever I’m already drinking — tea if it’s chilly, coffee if I need to get moving, or just a glass of water when I’m keeping things simple. It disappears quickly with a good stir, no fuss at all.
If you’re new to fiber, start with half a scoop and let your body get acquainted. Then work your way up. The trick, like most things in life, is consistency. A little bit every day goes a long way.
That’s really all there is to it. Just fold it into the routine you already have.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it taste like corn?
Not even a little.
Even though the fiber starts its life as corn, the part we use is just the gentle, soluble fiber—no flavor, no sweetness, no smell. Once it hits your coffee, tea, or water, it disappears like it was never there. The only thing you’ll notice is that your stomach is a bit happier the rest of the day.
Why only one ingredient?
Because our grandmothers never needed a label with 47 things on it.
Most fiber supplements add sweeteners, flavors, thickeners, or other fibers to justify a higher price or create a "proprietary blend." We don't think that's necessary. Soluble corn fiber has always worked on its own—there's no reason to complicate it.
Is it safe for daily use?
Yes.
Soluble corn fiber has been used safely in foods and supplements for over 30 years and is recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA. It's also Low FODMAP certified, meaning it's gentle enough for people with sensitive digestive systems. That said, if you have a medical condition or take prescription medications, check with your doctor before adding any new supplement to your routine.
How is this different from Benefiber or Metamucil?
Think of those as the big grocery-store cousins.
Benefiber uses wheat dextrin (a soluble fiber), and Metamucil uses psyllium husk (an insoluble fiber that gels when wet). Our soluble corn fiber is highly purified and dissolves completely without thickening or clumping—so you get the benefits of fiber without the texture issues. It's also naturally gluten-free, unlike wheat-based options, and works more gently than psyllium for most people.
Will it make me run to the bathroom?
Nope.
This isn’t that kind of fiber.
It’s slow, gentle, and meant to nudge things along—not sound any alarms. Most people don’t even feel it working until they realize they feel… well, normal again.
